Allocation of Federal Funding to Address the Opioid Crisis in Criminal Justice-Involved Populations, 2019-2020

JCOINJustice Community Opioid Innovation Network

The JCOIN initiative is part of the National Institute of Health’s Helping to End Addiction Long-term Initiative, or NIH HEAL Initiative (SM), an aggressive, trans-agency effort to speed scientific solutions to stem the national opioid public health crisis.

The purpose of the mapping project is for those working at the intersection of OUD and Justice-involved Populations (e.g., practitioners, administrators, policymakers, researchers) to see spatially in one spot the combination of federal grants to states and cities. For information about the methodology to create the map, please reference the JCOIN Methods page.

The research team includes:

  • Colleen Grogan, PhD. University of Chicago;
  • Amanda Abraham, PhD. University of Georgia;
  • Christina Andrews, PhD. University of South Carolina; and
  • Samantha Harris, PhD. Johns Hopkins University.
